If employees working for you have shown their passion for the job or they have done a good job in general throughout the past year, then it’s time for you to appreciate them and what they have done. People like to get recognition from what they have especially from their jobs. Although you may want to expect something from your employees by appreciating having a job, working in a good environment, and having a good boss. However, appreciation is a two way street. Good leaders never stay behind in recognizing or thanking their team of great employees. This works especially if you don’t have a budget for your raise by the end of the year.
Don’t waste any time, write a thank you letter to your team from your side. This can be a great source of motivation for your team. It will develop a sense of responsibility within all. Here are some guidelines for you if you are new to this:
– Greet them all (ideally in a one on one if possible) and tell them that you are grateful for the hard work done or you are grateful because of the efforts made in the team in the past year, the company has reached further than we expected. Mention that it was because of the efforts from the team that the campaign became successful or positive results have been foreseen.
– You don’t really have to write a letter by hand for this purpose. You can send the letter via email to all your team members.
Look at how American Airline CEO – Tom Horton thanks his employees
– The closing line of the letter will depend on the type of relationship you have with your employees. if it’s a formal relationship, then the closing line need to be formal but if it’s an informal relationship then you can write lines like “tons of thanks” or “appreciate your patience” and then talk about your expectations.
This appreciation will enable your team to work harder in such situations and they will get really happy that their boss appreciated them and valued them so well. People tend to assume more responsibilities at work when they get proper appreciation and recognition.
Here is an example of a letter of thanks from the side of the boss for appreciating its employees:
Dear valued employees
Thank you all for your patience and help while the company reconstructing and renovation was in process. Input from every single one of you was valuable for the wellbeing of the company. You were disciplined and you were still determined to work in all the fuss and noise. I am really happy to have you as a part of the team. Now that things have became smooth, I would believe that all of you would show the same patience. Such dedication is needed for the well-being of the company.
Your willingness to take every challenge is admirable to me. Please continue with what you are doing and reach for better everyday.
